D-Smilez supports individuals and families who have experienced a tragic loss or suicide. Their mission is to provide financial assistance, therapy, educational resources, and to help fulfill special wishes for those impacted.

Forgotten Harvest provides families with food insecure with fresh and nutritious food. Rescued food and produce are delivered to metro Detroit families that struggle to cover the cost of basic life necessities. The food helps bridge the income gap for tens of thousands of people, allowing them to secure some basic life necessities for themselves and their families.

The Non-Profit In Memory of Community Garden is located in the Warrendale Community of Detroit. This garden involves multiple age groups of volunteers. Those who work will receive a fair share of the produce we are able to grow in the area.

In memory of Kathy and to fulfill her expressed wishes, the family has set up the Kathy A. Janssen Foundation. The Foundation will provide financial assistance to causes that captivated Kathy during her life. Specifically, the Foundation will create a scholarship to advance secondary education opportunities at Lakeland High School, assist uninsured/under-insured cancer patients with treatment costs, and fund cancer research efforts and/or endowments at the University of Michigan.

Lighthouse provides direct services including food, shelter, rental/utility and other financial assistance, clothing, crisis referrals, and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency.

The Empowerment Plan is a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. The organization hires and trains individuals from local shelters to manufacture durable, weather-resistant sleeping bag coats for those in need. This model provides employees with stable income, housing support, and job security, while distributing coats to unhoused communities around the world.

This organization focuses on mental health awareness through proactive community engagement.  They contribute significantly to community prevention by promoting mental health education and sponsor impactful public programs that lay the foundation for a healthier future. These programs offer emotional support through shared experiences for survivors of suicide loss and individuals with firsthand experience of suicide.

People’s Resource Center (PRC) has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County, Illinois.

The Pink Fund is a non-profit breast cancer organization that provides 90-day financial support for non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatment. Allowing them to focus on healing, raising their families and returning to the workplace.
